On March 31, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced the establishment of a legal advice hotline for Iowans affected by the current public health crisis (details here) by Iowa Legal Aid (ILA), the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA), and Polk County Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Project. CLP has been in touch with these entities, and they welcome law student volunteers to assist with research related to the hotline. This will likely include the development of FAQs and researching individual issues under the supervision of ILA staff or volunteer attorneys. Research can be done remotely and projects will be posted for students to "adopt" as they have the time and capacity. The duration of the project is not certain, but student assistance would likely be needed into the summer.

We are planning a training webinar for this Friday, April 17, so if you are interested in volunteering please e-mail Brian Farrell (brian-r-farrell@uiowa.edu) by Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. so he can get you details.
