The week of October 25-31 is the National Celebration of Pro Bono organized by the American Bar Association. This week, we acknowledge the importance of pro bono legal work and recognize the many contributions of Iowa Law students, faculty, staff, and alumni. For example:

  • Iowa Law students are assisting with Iowa Legal Aid's expungement clinic as part of the inaugural Cady
Day of Service honoring our Iowa’s chief justice, the Hon. Mark Cady.
  • 64 Iowa Law students are participating in 13 Pro Bono Projects with law-related nonprofit and government agencies in Fall 2020.
  • The Class of 2020 completed nearly 3,500 community service hours over their law school careers.
  • Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Iowa Law students reported over 1,100 service hours during the Spring 2020 semester.

At Iowa Law, we are committed to pro bono work and strive to instill this value in our students. We encourage and acknowledge student service in a number of ways, including the Boyd Service Award and Pro Bono Society membership.
