Lawyers & Leaders (L&L) programs complement the traditional legal curriculum and are open to all Iowa Law students. Attendance at one L&L event each semester is one requirement for membership in the Pro Bono Society for that semester.  Additional opportunities may be added later this semester.

This installation tells the story of Bill Sackter and places his experiences in the context of historic treatment of people with disabilities. Record your attendance using the QR code in the gallery. 

Thursday, October 12, 12:30 p.m. (275 BLB) - Litigating Wrongful Conviction Cases and 42 USC § 1983 Civil Actions 
Manhattan-based lawyer Joel B. Rudin will discuss state and federal criminal trials, appeals, and post-conviction motions and complex civil rights lawsuits for police misconduct and wrongful convictions.

Monday, October 23, 12:40 p.m. (225 BLB) - Pro Bono Recognition Event
ABA Pres. Mary Smith & student bar leaders will share remarks on the role of lawyers in society & importance of public service as we recognize Iowa Law student service. Reception to follow. 

Thursday, November 2, 12:40 p.m. (235 BLB) - Equal Pay in the Legal Profession
Professor Marcia McCormick will provide insights on the pay gap and employment discrimination as well as empower listeners to find ways to advocate for themselves and others in the workplace. Co-sponsored by OWLSS.
