Disasters happen with greater frequency and intensity every year, and our legal system must respond to a wide range of issues during and after these events. On Friday, October, 14, Lisa Gavin from Iowa Legal Aid will discuss the role of lawyers in disaster recovery and highlight the issues they must address, such as government benefits, insurance, housing, document replacement, consumer protection, taxes and education. The event takes place at 12:40 p.m. in Room 285 BLB.

Lunch will be provided for students who RSVP to diana-dewalle@uiowa.edu by noon on Thursday, October 13.

Attendance at one Lawyers & Leaders event each semester is one requirement for membership in the Pro Bono Society.
