the service contributions of the Iowa Law community.  Iowa Law students completed a total of nearly 8,000 community service hours during the 2016-17 academic year. This fall, 80 students are participating in 14 pro bono projects with law-related non-profit and government agencies, and many more are volunteering with community service organizations such as the Crisis Center of Johnson County and Big Brothers Big Sisters. The incoming class completed nearly 200 hours of service as part of the First Year Service Challenge alone!

All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join this Friday, October 27, at 12:40 p.m. in 235 BLB for our annual Pro Bono Recognition Ceremony & Reception. The event will feature remarks by Assistant Public Defender Julia Zalenski (’13), recognition of Spring 2017 Pro Bono Society Members, recognition of First Year Service Challenge Participants, and presentation of the House Cup to the section with the highest rate of participation! Refreshments will be provided.
