The Pro Bono Society Executive Board had set April 10 as the deadline for May 2023 graduates to report Spring service hours. Pursuant to the Pro Bono Society Constitution, only hours reported by this deadline will be considered in determining whether a graduate has qualified for recognition at one of the three levels of the Boyd Service Award.

As a reminder, variances adopted in the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters in response to the COVID-19 pandemic reduced the career hours required for Boyd Service Award recognition for students who were enrolled during the 2020-21 academic year.

For students graduating in May 2023, the levels of distinction for the Boyd Service Award are adjusted to 90% of the guideline career hours set forth in Part XV(A)(c) of the Student Handbook, as follows:

  • Highest Honors: 180 hours total (at least 90 community service)
  • High Honors: 135 hours total (at least 67.5 community service)
  • Honors: 90 hours total (at least 45 community service)

The normal guidelines of 200, 150, and 100 hours are applicable to all other students.
