Lawyers & Leaders programs complement the traditional legal curriculum, and attendance at one of these events each semester is one requirement of the Pro Bono Society for that semester. The Spring 2022 Lawyers & Leaders attendance requirement can be satisfied by attending one of the programs listed below and completing this attendance form. Additional opportunities will be added later this semester.

Wednesday, Jan. 26, 12:40 p.m. – The Role of the Prosecutor (Zoom)

Join Assistant Linn County Attorney Jennifer Erger, Assistant Johnson County Attorney Haley Huddleston, and Scott County Prosecuting Intern Marc Wyers for a discussion of the role of the prosecutor in the criminal system and a look at Iowa's Prosecuting Internship Program. Iowa Law students can join the event via the Zoom link using their UI credentials.  

Monday, Feb. 21, 12:40 p.m.  – BLSA/CSO/DEI Committee New Associate Panel (Zoom)

Join the Black Law Students Association, Career Services Office, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee as they host several Iowa Law Alumni panelists that will share information about what new associates should know when starting in the workforce. Iowa Law students can join the event via the Zoom link using their UI credentials.

Tuesday, Apr. 5, 12:40 p.m. - OWLSS Spring Conference (Levitt Auditorium)

A diverse panel of female attorneys will discuss the paths they took to their current careers in law. 

Wednesday, Apr. 20, 12:00 pm - Human Rights & Climate Change: The Global South & Unequal Burdens (Zoom)

Pace Law Professor Smita Narula will explore the disproportionate impacts of climate change.
