If you are looking for community volunteer opportunities, sign up to judge for the Cornell College Mock Trial Competition!

The Cornell College Mock Trial Competition is looking for judges for their Opening Round Championship Series Tournament which will be held March 18-20. They are one of only 9 schools who are chosen to host one of these prestigious tournaments. The top teams from this tournament will advance to the National Championship Tournament.

For each round they need 3 judges for each room of competitors. Individuals with legal training, including law students, are preferred. Whether you are able to volunteer for one round or all four rounds, your assistance is greatly appreciated. They especially need judges for Round 1 and 4. Times for rounds are as follows:

  • Round 1: Friday, March 18th at 6:00 pm
  • Round 2: Saturday, March 19th at 9:00 am
  • Round 3: Saturday, March 19th at 2:00 pm
  • Round 4: Sunday, March 20th at 9:00 am

All rounds will take place at the Kirkwood Hotel and Convention Center (~30 min. drive from BLB) and you will be provided with complimentary snacks, beverages, and meals. A judge's orientation will take place before each round to inform you on how to evaluate the team. Each round will take around 2.5 to 3 hours. You do not need to read any material or prepare to judge in any way, just come as you are on the day of the competition!

If you are interested please contact Cornell's Associate Director of Law and Society, Emma Clark at 319-895-5182 or mocktrial@cornellcollege.edu

Time spent volunteering may be reported as Boyd Service Hours under the “community hours” category.
